    Art Recipes Tips Travel
    Hello and welcome to our recipe section!

    Our very best recipe for a good meal is a reservation at a local restaurant!

    However since our pockets usually have rocks and pebbles in them instead of money, we often cook at home

    We thought we should share some of our recipes in this section.

    Send us your favorite campfire or southwest recipe
    and we will be happy to publish it on this page!

    Connie's Biscuits

    Ingredients:

      3 cups Self Rising Flour;
      1 cup shortening, butter or lard;
      1/2 cup of liquid -
        Milk with a little vinegar or grapefruit juice added; canned milk & vinegar; or buttermilk.
      Cinnamon *optional

    Cut the shortening into flour until fairly well blended, (don't worry if it looks a little lumpy).
    Make a 'well' in the mixture and dump in the liquid.
    Fold over in the bowl with your hands until sufficiently mixed. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
    Connie says to pat the dough out on the counter or breadboard, rather than roll it out.
    Cut with a glass (grease the rim) and place rounds on a cookie sheet.
    Brush with butter and bake in a 400 degree oven for about 10 mins.

    Connie's Sandwich Shop in Lake Helen, Florida, was a 'Go To' place for these biscuits, in the '70's. She now lives in Sierra Vista and she was gracious enough to share this with us
